Well it was a sad day for foodies everywhere when we read on Tuesday that the prestigious 68-year-old Gourmet magazine will cease to exist after the November 2009 issue. Condé Nast Publications, Inc. cited a steep decline in ad revenues as the main reason. Condé Nast Publications says that it will retain Gourmet’s book and television arms but will be forging their epicurean efforts on their other foodie publication, Bon Appétit.
According to the Gourmet Web site current subscribers will receive Bon Appétit magazine for the remainder of their subscription. If you already have a subscription to Bon Appétit your current subscription will be extended. Of course, I just renewed my Gourmet magazine subscription last month for another two years but also subscribe to Bon Appétit, so I’ll be good for awhile. The Gourmet.com Web site will remain available during a transitional period, and access to Gourmet recipes will also remain available via their sister site Epicurious.com. If you have any questions or concerns about your subscription contact Gourmet’s customer service center at 1.800.365.2454.
