We Southerners love our festivals, so why not finish the last of the dog days of the summer of 2010 with this weekend’s 8th Annual Summer Shade Festival. The weekend festival features two Artist Markets, live music performances on three stages, a children’s fun center, tasty foods, the Adams Realtors 5K RUN FOR THE PARK on Saturday morning, and Corks & Forks: A Fine Food & Wine Event. And it’s all located along the shaded pedestrian roadways of historic Grant Park.

Corks & Forks: A Fine Food & Wine Event is part of the Summer Shade Festival featuring scrumptious dishes prepared by top chefs from Atlanta’s top restaurants as well as the coolest wines and ales to hit the market. Each day features 10 – 12 chefs including, to name a few, Canoe’s Chef Carvel Grant Gould to TWO Urban Licks’ Chef Cameron Thompson.

The Summer Shade Festival is a free event, but tickets to Corks & Forks are $35 in advance and $45 at the door for each day. For more information, go to www.gpconservancy.org. The Summer Shade Festival is produced by the Festival Organizing Committee for the benefit of the Grant Park Conservancy and its work to restore, renovate, preserve and maintain Atlanta’s oldest public park.
