Okay I’m the ‘queen of recycling.’ I feel that we should recycle everything that’s able to be recycled and try to generate as little trash as possible. Since plastics dominate so many of the consumer products that we use on a day-to-day basis they also generate a lot of our trash. Most curbside recycling programs accept glass, metal, newspapers, and in most case only your #1 and #2 plastics. If you recycle you know that you turn over a plastic container to read the number on the bottom, the one surrounded by the little recycling symbols that informs you of the plastic used in the container. So if you curbside recycle #1 and #2, then what do you do with #3 – #7 plastics besides throwing this in our landfills? Recycle them! Here are several places in our area that will accept all plastics (#1 – #7) as well as plastic bags. Don’t forget Publix will recycle plastic bags and Styrofoam cartons (i.e., egg cartons, etc) at their store locations.
